Sustainable Infrastructure for Urban Growth

Katherine Sierra, senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, in the keynote address “Sustainable Infrastructure for Urban Growth” at the Lincoln Institute’s 7th annual Land Policy Conference, “Infrastructure and Land Policies,” discusses the implications of urban growth and climate change for future sustainable infrastructure development. She first looks at how new technologies and associated infrastructure investments are being supported by a menu of strategy, policy tools, and innovative financing. She then discusses how these trends are playing out in the provision of sustainable urban infrastructure in three settings: scaling up sustainable urban transportation in Mexico, driving innovation through new energy partnerships and business models in Austin, Texas, and building resilience in Jakarta.
