Patrick Welch

Patrick Welch is the associate director of climate strategies at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, contributing to the Institute’s work on land-based climate finance, equitable climate adaptation and resilience, and scenario planning. He has more than eight years of experience working in planning, international development, and environmental policy at a variety of scales in both the public and private sector. Prior to joining the Lincoln Institute, he worked as a consultant on several sustainable economic development strategies in Latin America, including an economic decarbonization strategy for Costa Rica. Previously, Patrick worked at the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Volpe Center, where he helped develop programs and policy for multiple government agencies. He also worked as an environmental educator in Nicaragua with the Peace Corps, training teachers and government officials in climate change adaptation and community-led project development. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Urban Environmental Studies from Birmingham-Southern College, and his Master’s in City and Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
