Janae Futrell, AICP, LEED AP, a city planner and architectural designer, is the founder of a small business, Civic Sphere, and a nonprofit, ComplexCities.  Prior to these initiatives, she worked with the City of Atlanta, Atlanta Regional Commission, John Portman and Associates, and nonprofits such the International Federation of the Red Cross, Caritas Germany, and the Earthquakes and Megacities Initiative.  In addition to the US, she has worked in Haiti, Netherlands, and Philippines.  Her focus areas throughout her career include environmentally sustainable building, technology and smart cities, public transit, and emergency management. Janae received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Lambuth University, a M.S. in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a M.S. in Urban Development and International Cooperation from the Technische Universität in Darmstadt, Germany.  She was the recipient of an Erasmus Mundus scholarship from the European Commission, an Urban Studies Scholarship from TVS Design, and a Presidential Scholarship from Lambuth University.
