The Lincoln Institute and COVID-19
Update: All events will be held virtually until July 6, 2021.
Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Partners:
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted life around the globe. We cannot begin to measure or predict the total impact, but it will be far-reaching.
Following guidance from the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Lincoln Institute is taking actions to protect our employees, our partners, and those who are most vulnerable to this disease. Our actions include the following:
- Employees are working remotely—part of our responsibility to help slow the spread of the virus and prevent health care systems from becoming overwhelmed.
- We have suspended all work-related travel through the month of April and will reassess the suspension period as we learn more about the spread of the virus.
- We have encouraged staff to restrict or postpone nonessential personal travel.
- We have canceled or postponed all in-person courses and events through April 30, and we are virtually hosting as many as possible. We are assessing the status of events scheduled after that date.
We are closely monitoring this rapidly changing crisis and will keep you informed as we make adjustments, but make no mistake—our work continues. Our mission to improve quality of life through better land policy, and to help confront global challenges such as inequality and climate change, is more important than ever.
In the coming weeks, we will learn what it takes to collaborate effectively, sustain productive partnerships, and serve practitioners on the ground with minimal face-to-face contact. We will also explore ways to apply our research, mobilize our networks, and engage in new projects to address both near- and long-term consequences of COVID-19.
If you have questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
I wish you and your loved ones good health during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
George W. “Mac” McCarthy
President and CEO
