The Lincoln Institute’s Community Land for Community Benefits campaign examines and elevates the potential for public land to address today’s critical urban and economic challenges. The campaign builds on the Lincoln Institute’s work, deploying tools and research to help communities Find the Land they own, Fix the Rules that can unlock a desired community benefit, and Fund It by leveraging the value of land as a community resource.

Remaking Local Economies—a research initiative spearheaded by the Lincoln Institute—is building a unique template for smaller US cities that goes beyond traditional growth-centric efforts, setting the stage for meaningful, truly equitable change.

Our work addresses three major land-related tax issues: property taxation, land value taxation, and valuation methods.

Through networks and communities of practice, courses and workshops, research, and publications, the Lincoln Institute identifies and shares promising practices for land-based greenhouse gas mitigation, and adaptation and resilience. With partners, we bring together elected officials, community members, and key planning and policy staff to facilitate the transfer of knowledge, strategies, and promising practices to scale up effective climate solutions.

The Innovations in Manufactured and Modular Homes (I’m HOME) Network promotes manufactured housing as a safe, secure, and affordable path to home ownership, with a focus on home quality, land tenure and security, financing, and land use and zoning.

The Lincoln Institute and Spain’s National University of Distance Education (UNED) have joined to develop a graduate program that addresses the current urban reality. Offering an international and comparative perspective, this unique one-year online program covers the legal frameworks and tools that support urban planning—as well as fiscal, environmental, and participatory components.
