Real Estate Transfer Charges

Many local taxing jurisdictions impose real estate transfer charges. These are taxes or fees collected when ownership of real property is transferred between parties. They are also called real estate conveyance taxes, mortgage transfer taxes, documentary stamp taxes, and property transfer taxes, among other terms.
