The purposes of this course are (1) to promote the potential of geotechnologies for better management of urban land and (2) to demonstrate how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and sufficient geographic data make the use of land management instruments more efficient and effective.
The course will consider key concepts including the process of identifying urban problems and using geotechnologies to address them; the challenges of working with geographic data, the use advanced analysis to model geographic problems and their solutions, and the analysis of concrete case studies.
Prerequisite(s): familiarity with GIS software and geographic data.
