Visualizing
The Department of Planning and Urban Form at the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy has long been engaged in the marriage of technology and visualization techniques, on issues including density and long-range and regional planning. The visual presentation of future growth scenarios and development projects can be facilitated using these techniques and particularly helpful in citizen participation in the planning process. This section of Resources and Tools includes the following sites:
Visualizing Density
A comprehensive guide to mapping/visual techniques for educational purposes on the often challenging subject of density, as an online companion to the book Visualizing Density.
Visual Tools for Planners
A library of representations to provide planners with an expanded set of tools for communicating planning ideas, as online companion to the book Engaging the Future.
Visioning and Visualization
A case study of the use of visualizing techniques in the charette leading to a community development plan for Kona, Hawaii, as online companion to the book Visioning and Visualization.
