Making Sense of Place – Phoenix: The Urban Desert

Community Outreach

A broad educational outreach program is a key component of this film in order to engage diverse audiences and to expand the impact into communities. Partnerships and collaboration with citizens and community organizations and institutions are a part of the local, regional and national outreach program. Organizations who have expressed interest in participating in the Arizona educational outreach program can be found in the Arizona Partners page. Making Sense of Place – Phoenix: The Urban Desert will serve as a catalyst for the educational and programmatic activities and will encourage the formation of formal and informal relationships among stakeholders.

Educational resources collected on this site include links to Lincoln Institute publications, courses, conferences, and seminars. These resources are categorized by the film's themes in the About the Film's Themes section of this web site.

Local, regional and national activities and materials include multiple screenings of the film in various venues, including universities, government offices, conference centers and commercial theaters; distribution of a moderator's guide to facilitate dialogue in and among community groups; a teacher's guide designed for use of the film in classrooms at the secondary school and college levels; museum-based interactive exhibits; op-ed and feature articles in local newspapers; radio and television discussions; and distribution to public and school libraries. For information on how to sponsor a screening, visit the Bringing Making Sense of Place to Your Community page.

We are actively seeking community partners to work with us on outreach activities. If you or your group is interested in working with us, please contact help@lincolninst.edu.
