Evolución urbana en São Paulo: Crecimiento del empleo y localización industrial -
Urban Evolution in São Paulo: Employment Growth and Industrial Location

Researchers: Danilo Igliori, Ricardo Abramovay y Sergio Castelani, Universidad de São Paulo, SP, Brasil
Date(s): 12/2009 - 1/2011
In this study we empirically investigate the dynamics of employment and industrial location across municipalities in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Making use of a number of indicators we demonstrate that the urban system of the State is becoming more complex and facing a considerable number of changes. In the main part of the study, spatial econometric models are estimated using the approach developed in Kelejian and Prucha (2007). Our econometric results provide preliminary evidence of the role played by...

University as Real Estate Developer: Leadership for 360 degree Development: Case studies: Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College
Researchers: David Perry, Director, Great Cities Institute, University of Illinois at Chicago
Date(s): 7/2005 - 3/2007
This collection of case studies will describe and analyze the role of three universities where each university assumes the role of a civic leader under different contexts but plays this role within the context of a ‘single’ city, Atlanta. Georgia State University represents the role of the university as “urban planner” in developing a master plan that serves as the first land use plan in the city. Morehouse College, on the other hand, is representative of the university as “neighborhood planner” in seeking ...

Researchers: Raphael Bostic, Associate Professor, University of Southern California, School of Policy, Planning & Development; Chris Briem, Research Assistant, University of Pittsburgh; John Brown, Professor, Dept. of Economics, Clark University; Timothy Chapin, Assoc.
Date(s): 1/2006 - 1/2007
Through a request for proposal process, the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy commissioned research papers or case studies and convened a day-long seminar focusing on large landowners. In the non-urban and rural context, we have in mind owners such as government, State Trust Lands found in many western states in the US, resorts, recreation parks, corporate farms, watershed areas, u...

Quantifying and Mapping of Land Value Increments in Property Close to Linear and Specific Urban Interventions Developed in Bogotá, Medellín, Barranquilla and Cartagena de Indias, Colombia and Córdoba, Argentina
Researchers: Luz Dary León and Ricardo Ramírez, Bogotá, Colombia Iván Darío Cardona, Medellín, Colombia Mario Piumetto and Agrim. Graciela Loyácono, Córdoba, Argentina Milciades Romero Tautiva, Cartagena de Índias, Colombia José Manuel Rosado Reales, Barranquilla, Colombia
Date(s): 12/2005 - 8/2006
The main goal of the project was to generate Digital Value Models using data collected before and after linear and point-specific urban interventions, and then, using those models to create added value maps and added value bands in which the percentage of value added was roughly uniform. The secondary goal was to compare the results of this project with the results obtained in other cities. This comparative analysis will allow us to generate a value-added model from linear and point-specific urban intervent...

Researchers: Pam Leland, Assistant Professor, University of Delaware
Date(s): 7/2005 - 7/2006
