New Urbanist developments and neighborhoods are designed to be walkable, to contain a diverse range of housing and jobs and support open space regional planning. They also contain coherent architecture and planning approaches. New Urbanists believe that these approaches reduce how long people spend in traffic, increase the supply of affordable housing and shrink urban sprawl.
