Whilst debatably untouched sectors in the developing world, it is imperative that any reform proposals that respond to the unprecedented expansion of global slums must be accompanied by clear mechanisms that incorporate environmental sustainability and green housing development strategies. Of course, the task is by no means simple – particularly in countries where slum communities are forming on a daily basis with very little authoritative control and even basic provision for the base of the pyramid being in place, let alone initiatives that respect local environments.
