GUIDE TO REGIONAL COLLABORATION, DATABASE ON UNIVERSITY
REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT ON LINCOLN INSTITUTE WEBSITE

Regional Collaboration: Stewardship Across Boundaries and University Real Estate Development are latest additions to Resources and Tools section of www.lincolninst.edu

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Two new additions to the Web site of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy – a resource guide on regional collaboration and a database of university real estate development – are now available in the growing Resources and Tools section of www.lincolninst.edu.

Regional Collaboration: Stewardship Across Boundaries is a product of a joint venture of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the Public Policy Research Institute at the University of Montana, coordinated by Armando Carbonell, senior fellow and chair of the Department of Planning and Urban Form, Peter Pollock, the Ronald Smith Fellow at the Lincoln Institute, and Matthew J. McKinney, director of the Public Policy Research Institute.

Many of today’s most compelling land use, natural resource, and environmental issues—such as climate change, land use, water allocation, and landscape conservation—require people and institutions to work across jurisdictional lines and other boundaries. This Web-based resource provides information and guidance to planners, citizens, elected officials and others on how multiple jurisdictions, sectors, and disciplines can work across boundaries on issues of common concern.

University Real Estate Development was produced in a partnership led by Rosalind Greenstein, senior fellow and chair of the Department of Economic and Community Development, Wim Wiewel, president of Portland State University in Oregon, and the University of Baltimore.

As universities increase their role as major employers, generators of economic development, and key contributors to the local, national, and global knowledge economy, they often engage in real estate development to obtain needed additional space for core activities. Universities differ greatly in the types of projects they do and in their success in meeting developmental objectives. This Web-based resource provides a database of nearly 800 colleges and universities in metropolitan areas across the country, for research and analysis of specific land policies in local property markets. The database is free and accessible to researchers, university leadership, private developers, and public agency planners.

“I’m pleased to welcome these exciting new additions to the Lincoln Institute Web site, where we will continue to make data and resources available for a broad audience,” said Gregory K. Ingram, president of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, a think tank based in Cambridge, Mass. The Lincoln Institute Web site is at www.lincolninst.edu.
