CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (January 4, 2010) – More than 120 innovative thinkers will gather at the New York Academy of Sciences January 7, 2010 to explore how fiscal policy can support sustainability.
Sustainable City Finance, organized by Urban Age Institute and co-sponsored by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, features discussion and debate among more than 120 innovators in financing sustainability, greening city infrastructure, and encouraging economic development in cities. The topics will span energy, water, transport, and the built environment.
The agenda focuses on how companies and governments are successfully partnering in order to accelerate urban projects that promote green growth, according to Gordon Feller, chief executive of the Urban Age Institute. Some of the most interesting initiatives, he said, leverage recent changes in the banking and credit markets to provide financing that adopts new technologies, as urban economies make the transition to a cleaner and lower-carbon future.
Additional partner organizations include the Rockefeller Foundation, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Jones Lang LaSalle, Urban Land Institute, the Regional Plan Association, the World Bank, United Nations, CHF International, the New York Observer, and others.
