Start Date: January 2007
End Date: December 2007

Researchers
Principal investigators: Gregory K. Ingram, Armando Carbonell, and Yu-Hung Hong, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy
Other investigators: Robert W. Burchell and Stuart Meck, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; Keith R. Ihlanfeldt and Tim Chapin, Florida State University; Gerrit Knaap, University of Maryland; Terry Moore, University of Oregon; and Allan Wallis, University of Colorado at Denver

Description
The research aims at designing a coherent analytical framework to evaluate the Smart Growth initiatives in four U.S. states, including Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, and Oregon. These case studies will be compared with two other case studies where state-wide Smart Growth policies have not yet been officially established. The project evaluates the extent to which Smart Growth policies could assist the selected states to achieve their growth management objectives.
