This research into federal and state land exchange proposals
in the West includes an analysis of the attributes
of successful land exchanges. It also explores the barriers
impeding land tenure adjustment as a tool for resolving
problematic land ownership patterns in western states. The
findings will be compiled into a report that offers strategies
and best practices for state land managers and other
stakeholders for undertaking land tenure adjustment.
