Description
JOINT VENTURE partnerships
Sonoran Institute, Phoenix, Arizona

The joint venture also continues its work on climate
change in the Intermountain West. A policy focus report
is addressing the roles of local governments in mitigating
and adapting to climate change impacts in the West.
Through analysis of state climate action plans, it explores
how local land use planning can reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and promote adaptation. Focus group research
and individual interviews with elected officials, city and
county managers, and urban planners in the Intermountain
West were conducted to determine the views of local
government officials on climate change policy.
