Start Date:
End Date:

Researchers
Armando Carbonell, Lincoln Institute of Land Policy; and
Edward J. Blakely, United States Study Center, University of
Sydney, Australia

Description
A research seminar on climate change will be documented
in an edited book with chapters by experts from the
United States and Australia. Hazards to metropolitan
areas that will be exacerbated by climate change include
wildfires, drought, floods, and hurricanes. The research
will include an historical and current view of how climate
change has affected and will affect built-up areas. Case
studies dealing with specific hazard issues will be prepared
for cities including New York, New Orleans, Los Angeles,
San Francisco, and cities in Florida and the Carolinas in
the United States; and Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and
Perth in Australia.
