Description
This project describes socioeconomic residential segregation in Bogota over time at different spatial scales, comparing spatial and non spatial measurements. It will be both a substantial and a methodological contribution to the study of segregation in the city of Bogota. Using census and cartography data from 1980s to the present, the researchers will (i) track changes over time, (ii) compare segregation at different scales (e.g. locality, neighborhood, etc.), (iii) compare spatial and non-spatial segregation indexes, (iv) identify “hot spots” or very homogeneous areas of the city, and (v) suggest hypothesis about the processes behind the spatial clustering of population and the changes in that clustering.
